As a Senior Research Associate, Simon combines an academic background in forestry and economics with private sector experience in carbon project development, timber management, and consulting to assess the potential risks and benefits of nature-based carbon projects.
Simon comes from an interdisciplinary background, with degrees in economics and forestry. Prior to joining Carbon Direct, he worked in forest carbon project development, focusing primarily on North American IFM projects. He also has prior work experience in management consulting, environmental non-profit work, and timber cruising.
Simon has an undergraduate degree in Economics from Yale and a Masters of Forestry from Duke. His Masters Project at Duke involved quantifying the impacts of timber management and harvest on biodiversity.
