As a Principal Project Manager at Carbon Direct, Mohamed Hassan applies his extensive experience in large-scale infrastructure development and carbon capture projects to support clients in achieving their decarbonization goals. He specializes in project assurance, techno-economic analysis, and risk management to drive successful energy transitions.

Mohamed Hassan is an experienced project management leader with a proven track record of delivering large-scale energy infrastructure projects across the UK, Europe and  the Middle East.His expertise spans carbon capture and storage (CCS), renewables, and industrial decarbonization, with a strong focus on project assurance, commercial strategy, and risk mitigation.

Prior to joining Carbon Direct, Mohamed led CCS project assessments for the UK Ministry for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ), overseeing due diligence on multi-billion-pound carbon capture projects across five industrial clusters. Before that, he managed major energy infrastructure investments at Ofgem, where he played a key role in assessing large-scale HVDC interconnectors and nuclear projects.

With a background in structural and civil engineering, Mohamed has successfully navigated complex regulatory, commercial, and technical challenges across carbon markets, energy transition, and industrial supply chains. His leadership in multi-stakeholder environments—ranging from government agencies to private-sector developers—has been instrumental in de-risking capital-intensive projects and ensuring their successful execution.
