Erica Belmont, PhD
Principal Decarbonization Engineer
Biomass with Carbon Capture and Storage (BiCRS) + Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage (BECCS) + Biochar
Dr. Erica Belmont is the Principal Decarbonization Engineer for bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS).
Background & Bio
Dr. Belmont leads BiCRS project evaluations and co-development projects at Carbon Direct, focused on achieving highest quality project deployments in the hybrid decarbonization and carbon removal space. She has worked in decarbonization for nearly 15 years, with particular emphasis on thermochemical conversion and biogenic feedstocks.
Dr. Belmont is also an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Wyoming, where she has conducted research into biomass conversion for energy, materials, and carbon removal for nearly 10 years. She has also worked in the chemical refining and fuel cell industries.
Dr. Belmont received her Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of Texas-Austin, and her master's degree in mechanical engineering and her bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, both from Tufts University.
