Dr. Alex Moore uses their background in ecology, environmental science, and social justice to understand and assess the benefits and risks associated with carbon projects across diverse ecosystems and geographies.
Dr. Moore holds interdisciplinary expertise in ecology, ecosystem conservation and restoration, climate resilience, and environmental justice. Prior to joining Carbon Direct, they worked extensively in academia conducting research on coastal ecosystem ecology and conservation, and engaging with local stakeholders to address socio-ecological issues. They have worked on land-based carbon projects in coastal wetlands and forests of Colombia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Uganda, and the United States.
Dr. Moore holds a Ph.D. from the Yale School of the Environment (formerly the School of Forestry and Environmental Studies) and conducted postdoctoral research at the American Museum of Natural History funded by the National Science Foundation, followed by postdoctoral research at Princeton University. Dr. Moore currently teaches at the University of British Columbia.
